Playa Sur

The south beach is about 1 km long and tucked into the curve of the bay on the sheltered side of the rock. It faces southwest and catches afternoon and evening sun when Playa Norte is already in the shadow of the promontory. Somewhat less developed than the north beach, it gets fewer tourists and has a calmer feel.

The views back toward the castle from here are excellent — the rock rises almost vertically above the beach, and the old town walls are visible from the water. At sunrise the light on the stone is particularly good.
