Kukkolaforsen is a stretch of rapids on the Torne River north of Haparanda. It is best known for lippo fishing, the local method of catching whitefish with long-handled nets from wooden platforms in the rushing water.
The visitor complex adds saunas, a restaurant, and summer activities, but the river is the point. Come for lunch or a sauna if you want the easy version; come during the fishing season if you want to see the tradition in motion.
