Hildasholm was built in 1910 by the doctor and writer Axel Munthe as a gift to his wife Hilda. The house has the preserved, personal feel of a summer home rather than a palace, and the gardens are the real pleasure: formal rooms, lake views, and Arts and Crafts taste translated into Dalarna.
It is close enough to combine with Leksand Church and the homestead museum on one slow walk.
