Krogen vid Ået sits on the south bank of the Nyköpingsån, in one of the converted warehouse buildings near the castle. The menu leans on Baltic fish — perch, pike-perch, and herring prepared in the classic Swedish manner — alongside seasonal Swedish produce. The setting, with the castle tower visible from the terrace, is the best in town.
Prices are mid-range by Swedish standards. Lunch specials (today's dish — today's dish) are the most economical option. In summer the terrace fills up quickly; at other times the warm wooden interior makes it a comfortable choice in any weather.
