Rättvik Church

A lakeside medieval church with old stables and carved church art.

Rättvik Church stands on a small promontory west of town, looking over Siljan. Its oldest parts go back to the late 13th or early 14th century, and the interior keeps medieval art, carved figures, and later fittings that make it more rewarding than a quick lakeside photo stop.

The churchyard and old stables are part of the visit. They recall the days when parishioners came from around the lake by boat or horse, turning the church peninsula into one of the town's strongest links with older Dalarna.
