The Magasinen — four 19th-century brick warehouses on Packhuskajen, joined at the upper levels by glass corridors and rebuilt in the 1980s as a cultural centre. The complex now holds the city library, the Sundsvalls Museum, and the city archive. It is itself a piece of architecture worth a look — one of the most successful Swedish industrial-heritage adaptations of its decade.
The library has a generous reading room and a café; the museum and archive are free.
