The city's main museum, set in a row of restored harbourside warehouses (the Magasinen) just north of Stenstan. Permanent displays cover the great fire and the rebuilding, the timber-and-pulp industry that bankrolled it, and the art and craft of the Medelpad region. Temporary exhibitions are typically strong and mix art with social history.
Allow an hour and a half. The museum's café is one of the better lunch stops in the city centre. Entry is free.
