Innovatum Science Center sits next to the Saab Car Museum on the former NOHAB industrial estate — the same complex where Trollhättan's manufacturing history was made. The museum covers the engineering and scientific history of the Göta River region, from the canal locks and hydroelectric power generation to the aeronautical industry that gave rise to Saab.
The exhibits are hands-on and aimed at families and school groups, but the industrial heritage context gives them more depth than a typical science centre. A cable-car ride over the gorge (when operating) offers the best aerial view of the falls and lock system. Adjacent to the museum is the NOHAB Smithy, a preserved industrial blacksmith's workshop from the 19th century that gives a sense of the manufacturing that once powered the whole town.
