The Bohusleden is a long-distance hiking trail that runs for about 370 kilometres through the Bohuslän province, from Lindome near Gothenburg in the south to Strömstad on the Norwegian border. The trail passes through Uddevalla and provides access to the rocky, lake-scattered landscape of the interior as well as the coastal scenery to the west.
The section near Uddevalla passes through forests of birch and pine, over bare granite outcrops, and past several lakes. You do not need to walk the full trail — day sections around Uddevalla give a good sense of the Bohuslän terrain without committing to a multi-day trek. The trail is well-marked and freely accessible year-round, though midsummer brings mosquitoes in the wooded sections.
