Tureborg Castle

Tureborg is a faux-medieval castle built on a hill in the Tureborg neighbourhood of Uddevalla in the late 19th century, at a time when romantic historicism was fashionable among wealthy Swedish families. It sits on a forested ridge with views over the town and the fjord below.

The castle is a private residence, but the hill and the surrounding Ture Valleys nature reserve are open for walking. The reserve contains a series of small wooded valleys and a stream (part of the Bäveån system) that run through surprisingly wild terrain just minutes from the town centre. A network of paths makes it a popular walking and jogging area for locals.
