Breil/Brigels Ski Area

The Breil/Brigels ski area is small by Swiss standards — around 50 km of marked runs — but it is well-kept and rarely overcrowded. The slopes rise from the village terrace up toward the Piz Dado and the surrounding alpine heights, with runs for all levels. The highest point is around 2,400 metres, which gives reasonable snow reliability.

The absence of the mass-market resort crowds that descend on Davos or St Moritz is the main attraction. You can ski on a weekend morning without queuing at lifts, and the lift tickets cost considerably less than those at the bigger resorts. The village below has the usual alpine infrastructure — ski rental, equipment shops, a handful of simple restaurants — without the five-star hotel gloss that inflates prices elsewhere in the canton.
