Sassauna

The Sassauna is the prominent rocky shoulder of the Rätikon range that rises directly above Schiers — a 2,308-metre peak with one of the best panoramas in the valley. From the summit you look down on the entire upper Prättigau, across to the Silvretta peaks, and on a clear day all the way to the Bernina range.

The hike up takes around four hours from the village via the Stelserberg, with a stop at the small alp restaurant of Stels along the way. It is not technical but the upper section is steep. The bottom of the route can be skipped by riding the small mountain railway and chair lift to Stels from Schiers in summer.
