Solavers Castle

The ruined Solavers Castle sits on a wooded promontory across the Landquart river in the neighbouring municipality of Seewis. It was the seat of the von Solavers family, mentioned in records from the late 13th century onwards, and later passed to the von Aspermont and then to the bishops of Chur. By the 17th century it was already a ruin.

The walk from Schiers takes about two hours and includes a fine stretch of the Prättigau Höhenweg above the river. There is not much left of the castle — fragments of a tower and curtain walls in the trees — but the view back across the valley is worth the hike.
