DniproHES

DniproHES is the massive hydroelectric dam that flooded the old Dnipro rapids and turned Zaporizhzhia into a Soviet industrial showpiece. When it opened, it was among the largest power projects in Europe; even damaged and contested by history, it remains the city's defining built landmark.

The best way to read it is from the river and from Khortytsia. The dam is not pretty in the usual sense, but it explains why this city looks and feels the way it does.
