Cleethorpes Beach and Promenade are the reason the town exists as a resort. The central stretch near the pier is the lively bit, with families, ice cream, amusements, and the usual seaside noise. Walk south and it becomes calmer, with more space around the boating lake and dunes.
The Humber tide is part of the drama. At low tide the water can seem to disappear into the distance, but it comes back fast through channels. Treat the warnings seriously and do not wander far out across the mudflats.
