The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway runs between the leisure centre area and Lakeside, using tiny steam and diesel locomotives on a 15-inch gauge line. It is playful rather than grand, but it has been part of the resort since 1948 and gives the southern promenade a bit of living railway theatre.
At Lakeside Station, the Signal Box Inn claims to be one of the smallest pubs around. Even if you skip the pint, the railway makes a good link between the beach, boating lake, and the quieter south end of town.
