Cleethorpes Pier

Short Victorian pier that still anchors the town's central seafront.

Cleethorpes Pier is modest now, but it still gives the town centre its seaside focus. When it opened in 1873 it stretched much farther into the Humber; wartime shortening and later rebuilding left the compact pier you see today.

It is most useful as a marker for a walk: north toward the station and Grimsby, or south toward the better beach, boating lake, and miniature railway.
