St Mary's Church

St Mary's Church is the grandest building in Melton Mowbray, a large medieval parish church whose main fabric is mostly thirteenth to fifteenth century. The lowest part of the tower includes Norman stonework, and the size of the building says a lot about the wealth of a market town that sat on important routes across the Midlands.

Step inside if the doors are open. The church works best as a quiet pause between the food shops and the museum rather than as a formal sightseeing exercise.
