Village Church Farm

An open-air museum of Lincolnshire rural life, occupying a complex of 18th-century farm buildings on the western edge of town. The exhibits cover everything from a fully furnished cottage of around 1900 to a working blacksmith's forge, a thatched mud-and-stud Lincolnshire farmhouse, and a barn full of agricultural implements that explain how this coast was farmed before the railways turned it over to tourism.

Volunteers run the museum, and the welcome is genuine; if there is a craftsperson on site you will probably be invited to try the spinning wheel or the loom. A small tearoom serves home-baked scones. The site is open from spring to autumn and closes around the Christmas market each December. Entry is modest and it is one of the few attractions in town not aimed at the seaside crowd.
