The Moot Hall is Aldeburgh's best old building, a timber-framed civic hall from the first half of the 16th century. It still serves the town council, while the ground floor houses Aldeburgh Museum.
The museum is small, but the building carries a lot of the town's story: borough politics, fishing, lifeboats, coastal change, and the odd fact that a Tudor hall now stands almost on the beach because the sea has moved closer over the centuries.
