Bridge End Garden is a restored 19th-century garden tucked just off the town centre. It is laid out as a sequence of formal spaces: lawns, clipped hedges, a rose garden, a walled garden and a hedge maze.
It is free, calm and more substantial than it first appears from the entrance. Come after the market streets, when you want Saffron Walden to slow down rather than add another museum.
