Muncaster Mill sits on the River Mite about a mile north of Ravenglass, just off the road to Eskdale Green. A mill has stood here since at least the 13th century — the existing building dates mostly from the 18th — and the waterwheel and millstones are still in working order.
The mill produces stoneground flours from organic wheat, rye, and oats, sold on the premises. Opening hours are limited; check before visiting. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway used to halt at Muncaster Mill station next door, and the trackbed remains a pleasant walking route between the mill and Ravenglass.
