Warrington Town Hall

Georgian town hall best known for the ornate Golden Gates at its entrance.

Warrington Town Hall gives the town a proper civic set piece: an 18th-century house adapted to municipal use, fronted by the elaborate Golden Gates that have become one of Warrington's best-known landmarks. The gates were originally made for the 1862 International Exhibition in London and later found their home here.

The building is mainly an exterior stop, but it is worth folding into a walk through the centre with the museum, parish church, and older streets. In a town whose history is often read through industry and transport, the town hall is the polished civic counterweight.
