Tooley's Boatyard

Historic Oxford Canal boatyard and dry dock in the centre of Banbury

Tooley's Boatyard is the best reminder that Banbury was shaped by the Oxford Canal as well as by market trade. The yard grew from the canal age and still sits by the water in the middle of town, with workshops, a dry dock, and narrowboat history tucked beside modern development.

Pair it with a walk along the towpath and Banbury Museum next door. It is a more interesting stop than the surrounding shopping centre might suggest.
