Hotham Park

Hotham Park is a Victorian public park just north of the town centre, set around Hotham Park House — a Grade II* listed 18th-century country house that gives the park its name and its grandest feature. The park is small by city-park standards but well-kept, with a duck pond, a miniature railway that runs on summer weekends, a putting course, and enough mature trees to make it feel genuinely peaceful.

The house itself, now used for events and community activities, was built in the 1790s and was once the home of Sir Richard Hotham, an eccentric entrepreneur who bought up much of Bognor with the intention of turning it into a fashionable resort. His vision predated the town's royal appointment by 130 years. Hotham Park is the nicest green space in Bognor and a reasonable place to escape the seafront crowds on a busy summer day.
