The Crown sits on College Road at the base of the climb to Harrow on the Hill, and functions as the default rest stop for anyone who has walked around the school and the churchyard and wants a drink. It is a conventional English pub — real ales, a food menu covering the usual ground, a beer garden for warm days — and does not try to be anything else.
The clientele is mixed: local residents, Harrow School sixth formers (in mufti, off campus), and the occasional visitor making a day trip out from London. The kitchen is reliable and the portions are large. It is particularly useful as a lunch stop because most of the food options on the hill itself are limited to a handful of cafés.
