The Tolsey Museum occupies the small timber-framed market-house in the middle of the High Street. Built in the early 1500s, the building once handled tolls and local market business; today it holds a compact display on Burford's wool trade, borough history, and everyday town life.
It is not a big museum, and that is part of the charm. Ten careful minutes here gives the handsome street outside a much older story.
