Lizard Point

Mainland Britain's most southerly point, with Atlantic views and wildlife watching.

Lizard Point is mainland Britain's southern tip, a raw headland looking out over busy and often dangerous water. Unlike Land's End, it has avoided the worst kind of visitor clutter, so the drama comes from cliffs, weather, sea birds, and the knowledge that there is nothing further south on the mainland.

The National Trust wildlife watchpoint is a good place to look for Atlantic grey seals, dolphins, basking sharks in season, and Cornish choughs. Even on a grey day, the headland has a hard edge that makes the trip feel worthwhile.
