Loe Bar

Loe Bar is the shingle bank that cuts Loe Pool off from the sea at the mouth of the River Cober. Geologists trace its origins back to the last ice age, and the bar is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its unusual shape, plants, and wildlife.

It is a good coastal walk rather than a beach day. The sea here can be dangerous, but the views over the bar, the pool, and the open coast make it one of the more distinctive natural stops on this part of Cornwall.
