Built by public subscription in 1833, the Subscription Rooms still sits at the middle of Stroud's cultural life. The building hosts music, theatre, spoken word, exhibitions, and community events rather than operating as a static monument.
It is most rewarding when something is on. Check the programme before you go, or at least pause outside for a look at the Georgian frontage while walking between the station and the market streets.
