Wayside Folk Museum

The Wayside Folk Museum is a small private museum in a converted miller's cottage at Trewey Mill, just outside the village. It covers the social and agricultural history of the Zennor area — farming tools, kitchen implements, mining equipment, photographs, and artefacts from the tin and copper mining era that shaped Penwith's landscape and economy in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The collection is lovingly idiosyncratic in the manner of small West Country museums, with an emphasis on practical history rather than polished interpretation. It also covers the village's landscape: the ancient field system around Zennor, which survives largely intact from the Bronze Age, and the distinctive granite farmhouses and stone hedges (in Cornwall, these are called "hedges" not walls, though they are built entirely of stacked granite). Check opening hours before visiting — the museum has limited seasonal hours.
