Walsall has held a market since 1220, when Henry III granted the town a market charter. The modern market, held in the town centre, is one of the oldest continuously operating markets in the West Midlands. It operates several days a week with a mix of fresh produce, household goods, clothes, and local traders.
It is a working market, not a tourist attraction — the stalls reflect the town's everyday life and its diverse population. The nearby indoor market hall extends the range of goods available. The market is at its busiest on Saturdays.
