The Mill Garden

A small private garden on the Avon, with what is arguably the best view of Warwick Castle

The Mill Garden is a half-acre cottage garden on the banks of the River Avon, immediately below the walls of Warwick Castle. It is private but the owners open it to the public for a modest admission. The garden runs down to the old Mill Bridge and is laid out informally — roses, herbaceous borders, fruit trees, a little potager — but the real draw is the view: the south wall of the castle rises directly above the river, and the perspective from the bottom of the garden is the one that makes the postcards.

Entry is by an honesty box. Open daily April through October. The route in is along Mill Street, one of the prettiest streets in town.
