A small indoor market on Castle Street that has been running in one form or another since the town received its market charter in the thirteenth century. The current Victorian hall houses about thirty stalls — butchers, a fishmonger, a Welsh cheese counter, a Welsh-cake bakery, a wool stall, the inevitable second-hand book seller — and a handful of cafes.
The best stop in town for picking up authentic crumbly Caerphilly cheese, packed Welsh cakes still warm from the griddle, and faggots-and-peas to take with you. Closed Sundays.
