University of Wales Trinity Saint David

The Lampeter campus of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David began as St David's College, founded in 1822. Its central quadrangle was completed in the 1820s and gives this small Welsh town an unexpectedly academic core.

The campus also sits over the remains of the medieval castle of Pont Steffan, giving the site a longer story than the college buildings alone suggest. It is the most important place in town for understanding why Lampeter feels different from other small market towns in mid-Wales.
