Craig y Nos Castle is less medieval fortress than Victorian fantasy, which makes it more interesting. Adelina Patti, one of the great opera singers of the 19th century, made it her Welsh home and added a private theatre.
Even if you only see the exterior, the castle gives Pen y Cae a story that most small valley villages do not have.
