The Gwyllt

Woodland garden above Portmeirion, with paths, viewpoints, and exotic plantings.

The Gwyllt is Portmeirion's woodland counterweight to the village theatre. Paths climb through mature trees, rhododendrons, and estate plantings, with sudden views back toward the estuary and the painted buildings below.

It is worth making time for the gardens even if you came for the architecture. They make the whole estate feel larger and stranger, with the formal village giving way to damp Welsh woodland almost at once.
