The Wireworks Branch

The Wireworks Branch is the surviving bridge of a short industrial railway that once served Tintern's wireworks. The railway closed in the 1930s and the track was later removed, but the bridge remains as a footpath across the Wye.

It is a modest sight, but it adds a useful industrial-history layer to a Tintern walk, especially if you are following the river rather than only visiting the abbey.
