The Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway is an 8.5-mile narrow-gauge heritage line from Raven Square to Llanfair Caereinion. Steam locomotives haul the train through farmland, lanes, and wooded cuttings, with the steep climb over Golfa Bank giving the little engines real work to do.
This is not just a children's ride, though families will like it. It is one of the better ways to feel the landscape west of Welshpool without driving, and rail enthusiasts get a line with proper history rather than a short ornamental loop.
