Secret Beach

Secret Beach is on the western (lagoon) side of the island, accessible by golf cart or water taxi from San Pedro — about 9km north. The water here is calm, shallow, and spectacularly turquoise, sheltered from the ocean swell by the island itself. It developed as a visitor destination in the 2010s when a few beach bars and restaurants were built along the shore, and word spread rapidly.

Several beach bars now operate along the shore, with sun loungers, cold drinks, and food. The swimming is excellent — flat, clear, warm water with a sandy bottom — and the crowds are generally lighter than at the ocean beach in town. The golf cart track north along the island to Secret Beach takes about 30 minutes each way and passes through mangrove scrub and the quieter northern part of the island.
