Belmopan sits at the junction of the Western Highway and the Hummingbird Highway, roughly 80 kilometres west of Belize City. Buses run frequently between Belize City and Belmopan throughout the day — the journey takes about 90 minutes. The same services continue west to San Ignacio and the Guatemala border at Benque Viejo. Southbound buses on the Hummingbird Highway connect to Dangriga and Punta Gorda.
Hector Silva Airstrip (IATA: BCV) sits a few kilometres north of the town centre and receives light aircraft from Maya Island Air and Tropic Air. A domestic flight from Belize City takes around 15 minutes. Taxis are available at the airstrip.
