The stretch of 4th Street SW running south from 17th Avenue down to the Elbow River is one of Calgary's best walkable shopping strips. Independent boutiques, art galleries, vintage shops, and home design stores line both sides of the street. It is a good antidote to the big-box chains elsewhere in the city, with a neighbourhood feel and plenty of cafes to duck into between shops.
