Frank Slide Interpretive Centre

Interpretive centre above Canada's deadliest rockslide, with Turtle Mountain rubble below.

The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre overlooks the enormous rock field left when part of Turtle Mountain collapsed in 1903. It was Canada's deadliest rockslide, and the broken limestone still spreads across the valley floor.

Inside, exhibits explain the geology, the coal mining, and the early-morning disaster that buried part of Frank. Outside, the view does most of the work: the mountain, the rubble, and the highway all line up in one hard-to-forget scene.
