Fort Macleod's historic main street is a short but handsome run of old commercial buildings, many dating from the town's early boom years. The scale is modest, which is part of the charm: you can park once, walk both sides, and read the town's history through its facades.
The street is most rewarding when paired with the Fort Museum. Together they make clear how quickly a police post, trading settlement, and prairie service town grew around the same crossroads.
