The fairgrounds that host Red Deer's biggest annual celebration, Westerner Days, a four-day rodeo and agricultural fair held in early July. The event has been running since 1906 and draws visitors from across central Alberta with professional rodeo competition, livestock shows, carnival rides, live music, and the usual deep-fried fare that makes an appearance at fairs everywhere.
Outside of Westerner Days, the grounds host a variety of trade shows, motor events, and local markets throughout the year. The complex includes the Centrium arena and a large exhibition hall. It's not a destination in itself, but during Westerner Days it becomes the heart of the city.
