Sylvan Lake is large enough and usually warm enough to support proper water sports. Several rental operators along the waterfront offer kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats, and motorised craft in summer. Waterskiing and wakeboarding are popular — the lake is calm enough most mornings for good conditions, though afternoons can get choppy.
Sailing is also active here: the local sailing club runs regattas on summer weekends and you'll see dinghies on the water from May onwards. Fishing for walleye and northern pike is possible year-round (ice fishing in winter) and equipment is available at shops in town. Anglers should check Alberta's current regulations and obtain the appropriate licence before heading out.
