The Vulcan Tourism and Trek Station handles the normal work of a visitor centre, but it does it inside a building designed to look like a planetary surface base. Inside are Star Trek displays, costumes, souvenirs, and the kind of photo opportunities that make the town more than a single roadside stop.
It opened after the town decided in the 1990s to turn its name into a tourism hook. That sounds gimmicky, and it is, but the station gives the gimmick enough substance to be fun.
