100 Mile Marsh

The 100 Mile Marsh is a protected wetland on the edge of town, easily reached by foot from the centre. It is one of the better birdwatching spots in the Cariboo — in summer you can expect to see western grebes, great blue herons, red-necked grebes, and a range of duck species nesting or passing through. A short trail loops around the marsh perimeter.

The marsh is fed by Bridge Creek and covers a modest area, but the variety of habitat at the water's edge supports an impressive bird list for the region. Bring binoculars. Early morning and evening are the most productive times. The area is free to visit and well-signposted from the town centre.
