Burnaby Mountain Park

The park surrounding Simon Fraser University offers some of the best views in Greater Vancouver — the Centennial Way viewpoint, just west of the main campus, looks out over Burrard Inlet, the North Shore Mountains, Indian Arm, and on clear days as far as Vancouver Island. The view at sunset, when the mountains turn pink and the lights of Vancouver start coming on in the valley below, is spectacular.

The mountain also has a good trail network through second-growth forest. The main loop is about 6 kilometres; various shorter routes cut through the forest to viewpoints. The Aerie — a totem pole park at the mountain's edge featuring Aboriginal art — is a pleasant addition to any hike.
