Burnaby is well served by Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The Millennium Line runs through the heart of the city with stations at Lougheed Town Centre, Braid, Sperling–Burnaby Lake, and Lake City Way; the Expo Line connects Metrotown, Joyce-Collingwood, and other southern Burnaby neighbourhoods to Vancouver.
From Vancouver's downtown, Burnaby is 15–30 minutes by SkyTrain depending on your destination. A car is useful for reaching Burnaby Mountain and SFU, which are not served by rapid transit, though buses run up the mountain road.
